About Paxton (FKA Alex) 214D

Location: New Bern, NC; Age: 4 yrs. Hi! My name is Alex. I'm a North Carolina dog. I'm about 18 months old and I need a new best friend. I thought I had one but they left me to starve to death and I nearly did. But I managed to escape and found help. The people at Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab pulled me out of that scary shelter just in time and nursed me back to my big, black, shiny, beautiful self. I gained 45 lbs but lost a few inches of my tail. Now I am 'the Dude '. When my foster family first got me they thought I was deaf but I fooled them and after a week I barked at a car and the gig was up. I was just really traumatized. I still don't like being left alone, I cry a lot but I never tear anything up. My foster mom calls it separation anxiety and she got some medicine for those times when I get too upset to calm down. I know to go outside to do my business but truthfully if I get too upset I will poop inside. What shame. My foster mom says luckily I have poops that are to be envied, lol. I'm a bit of a velcro dog but I'm happy to just play or sleep wherever you are. I'm learning to use my crate. Its slow going because I'm still afraid of being locked away. I'm getting better everyday, though. I can sit and stay and lay down but not always the first time I'm told. Mom says I can be a knuckle head. Im great on a leash and love car rides. I'm very affectionate but still being a youngster I'm kind of rough and can be mouthy when I play. I love my toys! I will pile them all up. I don't like other big dogs. I'm usually so sweet but no way do I want to share. These little chihuahuas aren't bad. I like to sniff them real good but I don't try to eat them. They usually bite my nose and it scares me. My mom laughs. There are no cats here. My mom says being an only dog would be best. Whoopi! I'm not neutered yet but if I leave before I am there will be a contract for you to get it done. And we would both benefit from basic obedience training class within the first 30 days. I am a GREAT dog.
