About LAVA (west)

Hi, my name is LAVA ID#A4341480 I am a neutered male, black and white American Pit Bull Terrier mix, and I weigh about 67 lbs. The shelter staff think I am about 3 years old, and I have been at the shelter since November 13, 2019. Lava was adopted a few months ago, but returned because he was over -protective of the lady of the house. He is getting pretty anxious/stressed, and would really benefit from a home environment to help him decompress from shelter life. Once a dog has been returned to the shelter by an adopter, he is immediately at risk for euthanasia. It is not fair, but that is the pattern. At this time however, Lava is pretty jumpy and mouthy with stress, so I wouldn't recommend him for small children. But it goes to show you that once he settles and decompresses, he could potentially be a great family dog! Please consider giving Lava a chance outside of the shelter. Lava takes a little time to warm up, but once he does, he's happy for some pets and attention. He's also happy to show off his tricks 'sit' and 'paw' for treats! Lave walks nicely on the leash, and already has some training and basic manners. He was brought to the shelter originally as a stray, but it's clear he had someone at some point who taught him some things.
