About Twinkles

Adoption Fee: $100
Chihuahua mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Meet Twinkles Little Twinkles was abandoned by her owners and found herself at Animal Control. We rescued Twinkles and her mate, Skye, as soon as we could. They both arrived on June 19, 2020. Twinkles is a senior girl, who's lived a rough life. She was neglected and abandoned as if she didn't matter. But she does!!! Twinkles is about eight years old. She's a black and white, smooth-coated Chihuahua mix, weighing 12.6 lbs. Twinkles is very sweet. It seems our shelter may be the first time she's known any comfort and love. She basks in the attention shown to her. When she first arrived she got a bath and a nail trim. By the looks of things, it may have been her first for both. She relished the warm water and was so well-behaved. Twinkles walks well on a leash. She enjoys car rides and aims to please, especially if a treat is involved. Twinkles does well with cats and she does fine with the dogs that she's met. She and Skye love being with each other and find comfort being together after all they've gone through. We're not sure if they are actually bonded, but they cry and bark when the other leaves the room. They may be adopted separately, but we'd love to find them a home together, if possible. It's heartbreaking to know that Twinkles has spent the first eight years of her life the way she has. It's exceptional that she's as sweet and affectionate as she is. She happily welcomes a lap and some snuggles. Her petite size enables her to be a wonderful travel buddy. She longs to be someone's best companion and will make for a lovely addition to a welcoming family. Twinkles (and Skye) may be the one for you if you're able to open your heart and home to a senior girl who's never known what true love feels like and all the comfort and security that it brings.
