About Missy

Missy is one beautiful girl, best guess is either Flat Coated Retriever or Border Collie mixed with Corgi of all things, and probably doesn't realize how very lucky she is. This 30 pound beauty was found in an orchard in the Central Valley of California. It took the orchard's owner over three months to trap this girl because she was so very scared of humans in general, men in particular. They held her the required month so any owner could come claim her but, of course, no one claimed her. A rescue stepped up to help find her a rescue that had room and that's where we came in. A transporter from the area met us halfway and we took over the care of this extremely timid but gorgeous girl. It took her a long time to even find her wag but she finally found it. She started romping and playing with some very people-oriented dogs which filled our hearts with joy. Now she's gotten to the point where she actually craves being loved on though occasionally something will spook her. She even comes in the house (something she was terrified of just two months ago) and crates herself. It won't be long before this girl has found her full-on dog. However, there are certain men that still frighten her. Some men are just fine. So - before Missy gets too settled in here we are looking for a home where her humans will be patient and kind, understanding that she needs to have a lot of encouragement, and where any men are either immediately okayed by her OR they are understanding enough to slowly but surely win her over. All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live. Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records.
