About Odin

Adoption Fee: $275
Border Collie / Shar-Pei
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Odin is a charming and distinguished senior gentleman looking for a loving home! This sweet little man was rescued from an animal control facility in Kentucky and has found his way to a loving foster home in Chicago while he waits to meet his forever family. Odin was originally found as a stray so not much is known about his background. He appears to be a Border Collie/Shar-Pei mix possibly with some Terrier in him as well.He weighs in at 32 pounds so a great medium size. He is a senior, estimated to be at least 8-10 years old. Odin can be a little reserved/aloof when he meets new people, but he warms up quickly. Once he warms up, he is very affectionate and loves to give kisses. Despite being a senior, he is still quite spry and has a lot of pep in his step. He is very curious loves to explore and go for long walks and still loves to play. He is crate trained and does well with his housebreaking when kept on a regular schedule. Odin still has a lot of love to give and we'd be so thrilled to find him the home of his dreams to spend his golden years in. He doesn't ask for much, just a warm comfy bed, a few walks a day and lots of cuddles! After being displaced as a senior, Odin can also understandably be a bit anxious in new environments and will pace and whine for a few days but does settle down in time. We are hoping to find him patient guardians who are able and willing to give him the time he needs to feel comfortable in a new home. He is currently being fostered with several other dogs and gets along well in the pack and does not seem to mind kitties either. Like many herding breeds and terriers, Odin can be a bit talkative so he would probably do best in a single-family home as opposed to a condo or apartment where his chattiness might bother the neighbors! Unfortunately, Odin has tested positive for heartworm. He is in the early stages of infection and we are very optimistic he will recover fully after treatment! Odin has begun the first stage of treatment and is doing very well. Heartworm treatment takes place in stages over a couple of months. We do allow dogs to go to their new homes during treatment so they can begin adjusting to their new lives as long as the adopters are comfortable caring for the dog during treatment. Pal's Place covers 100% of the cost of treatment at one of our partner vet clinics. Because of this, we are only considering local adoptions for Odin (Chicago and neighboring areas) to ensure he'll be able to complete his treatment though our partner clinics. %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD'%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD Odin's adoption fee is $275.
