Ike has been looking for a loving home preeetty much his whole life. He was thrown out of a moving vehicle on the turnpike when he was only two years of age and his rescuer named him Turnpike Ike. Although he is unaware of his first name, the trauma from abandonment was something he struggled with on a daily basis for many years. Ike was dog aggressive and lived with this label for a long time. For this reason, he never found a home. It wasn't until he was a senior that Ike learned to live with other animals in a foster home. When everything seemed to be going well for him, a dog was brought into the foster home that he just could not get along with. As some struck of unfortunate fate, both Ike and the other dog have been in the same foster home for years waiting for their own families. Living in the same home has stunted the recovery and rehabilitation of both dogs. We are sure that Ike's loving family is out there, and we know he is meant to spend his last years being loved and cared for in an environment where he is not stressed or isolated.
