About Rocket

Introducing Rocket! He is a 2 year old, 17 pound Dachshund Beagle mix who came to us from a shelter. Dachshund Beagles are a fun mix! They are loyal, high energy, and curious. Rocket is a sweet boy who loves going for walks, sleeping in the bed at night with you, and hanging out wherever you are in the house. He especially loves it when you call him over to you, he's so eager for positive attention. Rocket is over the moon happy when you tell him he's a 'good boy'! He likes people and is generally good with other dogs and cats, but he does have food aggression and he can be jealous if someone takes attention away from him. We don't think a home with kids is good for him. Rocket was scrappy with the other dogs in his foster home at first, but he has settled down a lot. He hasn't had a lot of interaction with the dogs in the home beyond that, and he hasn't played with toys yet, but he did play briefly with one of the other dogs after a few days. After you pet him for a few minutes, he wants your hand to be a toy! Rocket might be happiest as an only dog in the home, but he may also just need to feel secure and safe in a home before he can fully be comfortable and let his personality shine! Rocket has a lot of energy, enjoys being outside, and chases anything that moves, so a secure fenced yard is required for him. He is housebroken and knows how to use a doggie door. Rocket is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. He is a sweet boy who will make someone a loyal loving companion!
