About Peewee and Newman

Adoption Fee: $550
Chihuahua
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Introducing Peewee (tan) and Newman (dark grey)! They are a sweet pair of 6 year old bonded Chihuahuas. They were owner surrendered to us. Peewee weighs 7.8 pounds and Newman weighs 6 pounds. When you first meet them they are a little scared but they quickly become comfortable and attach to their person. Peewee's favorite place to be is in anyone's lap but he prefers a women's lap over a man if given the choice. Newman would rather snuggle beside you but will get in your lap when he feels like it and he actually prefers men over women if given the choice. So they would be the perfect dogs for a family! They are bonded, but don't follow each other around all the time. If one of them leaves a room it gives the other more confidence to follow at some point. Peewee does enjoy grooming Newman and will sit with him and groom him for a good 30 minutes a day. He will make it a point to find Newman to give him his daily grooming! Their foster mom thinks they would be happiest as the only 2 dogs in a family since they don't like to play with her other dogs. Newman has been known to growl a back-off warning if one of the other dogs invades his space. They ignore the cat in the home. They have been around older kids and did great, but a home with young kids would not be ideal. They were given up because they didn't handle a new baby in the home well. Peewee and Newman are very relaxed little dogs who would love nothing more than to lie around with you all day long if they could! Peewee loves to have his belly rubbed and if you stop petting him he will push your hand down with his paws or nudge you with his nose to get you to start again. Peewee can be lap possessive, and that is something we are working on. When he acts up he just needs to be put down and ignored. He can also be grumbly and may nip if you move him from a spot on the couch or his bed, also something his foster family is working on. They currently sleep in a baby gated room in an open door crate but they would absolutely love to sleep in the big bed with their family. As a matter of fact Peewee especially would probably sleep on top of his human and Newman most likely would opt to sleep snuggled up under the covers. As far as potty training they did mark initially and may do it again in a new home, not uncommon for little dogs. However after about a week that behavior lessened considerably but they are still working on their housebreaking. They are crate trained. They do like to go outside and listen well when they are out. They will come when their names are called. A fenced yard would be preferred to give the little guys a safe place to go out, but they walk well on a leash and harness too. They have been to the vet for a wellness check and are up to date on shots, heartworm negative, neutered, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. These two guys are super cute and would love to come home with you! Submit an adoption application to meet them!
