She is a super sweet and loving kitty who's full of personality, love, and a dash of diva. Like a typical Calico, Duchess has that a sweet, sassy and spunky side mixed in with loyalty and unconditional love you can't find in any other. Duchess has IBD (Irritable Bowl Disease) which is controlled with a liquid steroid (that she has no problem taking!). She will come to you and let you know when she is in need of it. She's such a good girl. Her steroids run about $35 every few months. In a simple answer, this does not effect her daily life and she should be just fine with her steroids if there is a flare up! As she gets older, she may need an adjustment on the dose or even an ultrasound if the steroid becomes ineffective to see what her stomach is doing and go from there. That would be expected to be years from now. She likes to play and have fun and will get her fill of zoomies every now and then but she also loves to just lounge around on the sofa or window sill and be pampered while sitting on your lap or before bedtime. Duchess has been around dogs and cats her whole life. She does get along with them however like a normal cat, she is going to need time adjust and become friends with any and will 'grumble' at them to say she'd like to have some space and elbow room. No aggression, she will just voice her opinion! Because of her IBD, she will need to be in a home with NO children and will do best in a quieter or calm environment that won't cause any flare ups. Duchess is an indoor only cat. Though she can be a little shy at first, she does warm up pretty quickly and once she gets to know you, she is such a friendly and affectionate girl who loves to be brushed, play, and cuddle. She loves to play with laser pointers and will be the life of the party when you bring out the catnip. She loves to get lots of attention and is a huge love bug with her people. We are anticipating the stress of moving from her current home to her new home to cause a flare up of her IBD so her new family (hopefully you!) would have to be mindful and ready to help her when she needs it.
