About STEW

Courtesy Posting: We are looking for separate good homes for both Stew and Stan (they are not bonded) who are estimated to be 1 and 2 years old respectively and appear to be purebred chows. Both dogs were found as strays in matted condition, and brought to the Phoenix shelter where they were going to be euthanized since they were fearful originally. A local rescuer and chow advocate saved them in time, and had them neutered, but could only place them in boarding for now, until we find suitable homes. He is working with them regularly at the facility in Phoenix where they have made good progress, but it is very hot there with soaring temperatures. Therefore, I am desperately looking for homes for each of these dogs to assist this rescuer, and get these poor dogs hopefully out of this heat. Stan and Stew are gentle, give kisses, but are still on the shy side, and need more socialization, so a chow experienced home is needed for each. Stan is dog reactive right now, he likely had a very difficult life. Stew is a little better, although he too is recommended for a home with no other pets. We may also consider an experienced foster. We do not believe either dog had ever been indoor dogs before, but they are very young still. Note: They do not have to be placed together.
