FeLV POSITIVE KITTY LOOKING FOR HIS OWN HOME Two-year old Storm is a very sweet and loving boy who just wants to be petted and loved. He was rescued as a sick, skinny stray with a bad eye and sinus infection, which turned out to be caused by a fox tail in his left eye. The fox tail was removed and he was treated with antibiotics, recovered and is doing well. He now weighs 8.5 pounds and his estimated date of birth is 6/13/18. However, he tested positive for feline leukemia virus (FeLV), which means he is infected with this virus, but is not showing any signs of sickness. It is important to know that cats with FeLV can live normal lives. Here are the statistics on feline leukemia: About 40% of infected cats develop immunity and become resistant to future infections. About 30% of infected cats become latent carriers, neither fully recovered nor seriously affected. The remaining 30% of exposed cats are persistently infected and most die within 3 years. FeLV may impair the cat's immune system and the cat can lose their ability to fight bacteria, viruses and fungi. Storm is not contagious to humans or dogs or any other species, but is highly contagious to other cats. He should be the only cat or live with other cats who have also been exposed and tested positive for FeLV. Storm has been neutered, vaccinated and dewormed. Storm is hoping for his own indoor home so he does not have to be confined to large cage in order to be isolated away from other cats at the rescue, which is not a good quality of life. Storm is a loving, sweet boy, loves attention and gets in your lap for petting. He purrs a lot. He's looking for a special person who is willing to open their heart and their home to give him a loving, quiet home. And you will be rewarded with a grateful, loving companion! $50 adoption fee, cash only, which is to help reimburse for a portion of expenses of cat rescue and rehabilitation. Adoption contract required. Location: Quail Valley/Menifee, Southwest Riverside County. Local adoptions only; within 50 miles because we deliver animal to its new home. (Please note: L.A. and Orange Counties are out of area because of traffic difficult time-consuming drive) We are looking for permanent indoor homes for our cats and adopters who are willing and able to care for this pet for its lifetime (15+ years). If interested, please email us with a little info about you, your family, your lifestyle, your other pets, where you live, etc. and what type of cat you are looking for--an indoor companion, outdoor or? Thank you. Please understand that living in a rescue with multiple other cats is stressful for cats for a number of reasons including the transient nature of a rescue with cats coming and going, dealing and contending with other cats and some cats not being socialized with other cats. This all leads to constant social stress and readjustment for a cat. In addition, cats living in a rescue may not get the socialization with humans and the individual attention that they would receive in their own home. This all affects a cat's behavior and some cats regress or become shy and reserved. And sadly, many common house cats, especially black cats, are overlooked and passed over and live and wait in the rescue for extended periods of time. However, if given a chance, these cats blossom in their new homes when given the love and attention they need and deserve. We are looking for adopters who are willing to open their hearts and homes to a rescued cat and are willing to give a rescued cat a chance and accept them for who they are. Even though the cat might not have made a good first impression, when acclimated and comfortable in its new home, the cat's personality will come out and you will see the nice cat it is. When adopted, most cats/kittens are scared going to a new home with new people, but they all blossom in their own homes. We ask the new adopter to be patient and give the cat time to settle in and get comfortable in its new environment and learn to trust you. We never know how long it will take for them to acclimate to their new home because all cats are different. Some cats walk in and make themselves right at home, sometimes it takes 2-3 days and sometimes weeks to settle in. Our adoption process involves meeting by appointment. We have the best interest of the cat in mind and our goal is to find a good, permanent home for each of our rescued animals. Therefore, we have the right to decline an application if we feel it is not a good match/fit or suitable home. After meeting the cat, if you want to adopt it and we both agree it is a good match, an application and adoption contract are completed. A convenient day/time is arranged for us to deliver the cat to
