About Ralph

Hi there, my name is Ralph. I am 12 years old. I need a new home by June 26, 2020. A little more about me, I am a happy dog! I am smart, I know how to sit, I am leash trained, and I can go 'IN' to my kennel without hesitation. I get kenneled every evening to sleep. The primary reason I need a new home is because within the last 2-4 years, I have been getting more reactive toward the other dogs in the house...usually at times when they get close to my food, water, or get within my personal space, I lash out and growl. The fundamental nature of my reactivity toward other dogs could be rooted in resource guarding or resource defending, but a vet suggested that my problem could be thyroid related. I have never broken skin orseriously injured either of my furry siblings. My ideal new FOREVER HOME is one with NO OTHER DOGS OR CHILDREN. Also, even though I am a small breed, for 23 pounds I have a lot of strength. So, I'm not fit for a physically weak individual to handle. I am 12 and I have a few good years left in me. Update 6/24/20 - we got a prescription for a pain medicine and that seems to help him a little. He is more active, and happier since we've been giving it to him Saturday. I believe the nature of his irritability could be caused by pain or discomfort.
