About Chester

When Chester first arrived at the shelter as a humane case he weighed only 26 lbs. After months of special attention and care, including a medically prescribed diet, Chester is now quite the hunk at 40 lbs. and is ready for his forever home. Chester is 3 years old and is already neutered. He may need some initial help with his housebreaking. While his traumatic experience makes him shy when first meeting people, he is a fun loving, dog once he feels secure in your company; his transformation is heart warming; toss him a ball and he will bring it back, call his name and he trots right over for some love. How could a dog who was treated so badly be so forgiving? Chester lived with other dogs in his former life; when meeting a new dog recently Chester was initially prickly, but when the new dog was friendly with Chester, Chester eventually relaxed and the 2 dogs gently touched noses through the fence. We do not know Chester's history with kids, but it seems fair to expect that if kids are kind, gentle, and respectful of Chester then he will be the same with them. We have no information about how Chester would interact with a cat. But as far as people go, Chester is an unclaimed treasure just waiting to be discovered.
