About Lucy

Adoption Fee: $50
Pit Bull / Miniature Pinscher
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Lucy is a 2 year old pit/miniature pinscher mix. She has a few other things thrown in, but those are her primary elements. She has a DNA profile and has no known health issues. She has the height of a pit, but has the body structure (narrow/slim) of the min pin. She's approximately 30 lbs - not expected to get much larger. Lucy arrived at her current home via an open gate at the end of Jan 2019. Tried for several weeks to locate her original owners. Found through other sources the original owners moved & left her to fend for herself. She seemed to get along with the other 2 dogs (dachshunds) in the house at the time, so we headed to the vet for shots & chip. The vet estimated her age at about 1 yr in April 2019. She has not been spayed. Lucy is a very smart, intuitive dog. Over the last 18 months, Lucy has gained confidence as a dog. She did resource guard at first, but has since shown great improvement in that area. She has developed possum hunting skills and makes attempts at squirrels. As a result, her prey drive development has increased. Lucy has also made me her person and feels it's her job to guard me in the house. Lucy turned her hunting/guarding drive against the dachshund and caused severe injury to his neck/throat. While he is healing at another location, I can no longer maintain her in the house. She has given signs that she still views the dachshund as prey and will probably attack him again. This is the only dog she has been aggressive towards in the last 18 months. It is recommended that her next home does not have small animals, or small children. She has not been exposed to older children on a regular basis, so cannot advise. Her normal temperament around 99.9% of people is submissive. She just wants her belly scratched and wants to be loved on. She likes going on walks & car rides and likes to play with various toys. Lucy can be a cuddle bug & often likes to sleep touching someone. She arrived crate & house trained. While I am saddened to give her up, she deserves a good home where she can continue to thrive and be a good pet for an experienced person.
