About Milo

Meet Milo, he is a border collie mix breed dog with the desire to learn and the energy to keep up with any active family or farm willing to give him a chance. Milo was originally found roaming free in the fields of Iowa, an apparent victim of yet another dumped dog. From the start Milo, was shy around new people until he had a chance to feel more comfortable around them. But once he accepted you, you sometimes had no choice but to accept him. Milo was able to be very loving with hoomans that he bonded with. Sometimes he would even be protective over them, causing him to growl or bark at other animals that would get closer than he was comfortable with to his new hooman friends. But with time and focus and understanding Milo has done so much better at being able to share the spot light and get along with bigger and bigger groups of animals and hoomans. Recently, Milo, has spent time away from his foster family and on an active farm. The first day he chased chickens and didn't much want to sit still. But because he is so smart and eager to learn, after only a few days he was listening better and not chasing. He would lay and watch the goats always at the ready to round them up if he was ever needed. But in the meantime he settled for playing fetch and running with other dog pals on the farm. Milo has always been great at coming when called. Milo has also been trained inside the home as well. He is completely house trained. And is also kennel trained for at night or during day time hours when he was left alone. Sometimes Milo would even go into his kennel on his own just to have a sense of security and take a nap or chew on a bone. Milo isn't the biggest lap dog around but we have found that he like to curl up on the ottoman or on the floor by your feet when the day is winding down. Milo has done well with children that he has met though toddlers and below are unknown. He has also met cats in a home and was curious but respected and slightly feared when they groaned or hissed at him. He is untested with large livestock but is known to give chase to small farm animals. Although, with correction and guidance he did very well with leaving them alone. Milo is looking for FURever! He just wants a chance to prove how smart and loyal he can be. He needs someone who will be his leader and guide him down the best path for success, but also is able to be his friend and family member. Is that someone you?! Milo is approximately 3yrs old. He is neutered and completely up to date on vaccines. A full copy of his vet records will be available upon request. Milo's adoption fee is 150$
