About Max

Adoption Fee: $350
Doberman Pinscher
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Max Max is a gorgeous pure bred Doberman Pinscher. Max was surrendered when his owner no longer wanted to breed him. He originally arrived to our shelter in May 2020. Max was subsequently adopted and things were good, but when his owner moved, the activity of the new housing situation was too much for Max to handle. Poor Max needs a place where he feels safe and secure, a place where he can settle in at his own pace. He's a sensitive soul and new experiences can be scary without a patient and steady hand. We think Max will thrive in a quiet home with an experienced owner who will meet Max where he is and give him sufficient love, time and patience to decompress. Max will be adopted to a family without children, and may do best with a single owner because he is so protective of his person. Max is 4 years old. He is 75 lbs. of lean muscle. Max carries himself like the regal and gorgeous dog he is. He commands attention. He has a shiny black coat, eyes that glisten and a physique that is lean and muscular. When Max arrived in May, it was obvious that he wasn't well socialized, but he responded remarkably well to the constant flow of attention from trainers, staff and uber volunteers. And his sweetness emerged. He loves seeing his people. He loves going for walks. He likes to sniff the flowers and be with his person. Trainers and staff have been working with him and Max handles gentle training very well. Max appreciates being told what a good boy he is and he REALLY appreciates ear scratches and belly rubs. Once Max trusts you, he's also a leaner. He loves to lean into his person for assurance and connection. Given Max's previous life, he seems selective about which dogs he likes and does give chase to cats, so Max will be adopted where he can be an only pet. If you are looking for a magnificent, incredibly beautiful and loving dog, Max may just be for you. He'd love being part of a family where he gets to be inside with his people snoozing on a couch or laying in front of a fire or on the porch. He'd love to take long walks and go for car rides. He's a wonderful boy who definitely could use a chance at a happy life. Perhaps you'll be the one to give Max that chance.
