About Yukon

Adoption Fee: $350
Great Pyrenees / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

UPDATED 7/25/2020 Yukon - is ~3 yrs old, about 76 lbs. and an Anatolian Shepherd mix. Yukon was tied to the shelter's fence by his owner in the middle of the night for reasons unknown. He is up to date on all his shots, is HW negative, and is neutered. Yukon is housetrained and crate trained. He is very tall at ~31 inches at the shoulder and his foster home uses an extra tall (Great Dane size) crate so that he has plenty of room. Yukon is a very sweet, happy, cuddle bug who is always wagging his curly tail. He is medium energy and playful. Yukon loves dog toys of all types (does not tear them up) and enjoys fetching. He also enjoys playing, wrestling, and chasing with the medium sized dog in his foster home. He would probably be too rough for small dogs. Yukon walks well on a leash unless he gets distracted by wildlife that he would like to chase. He would more than likely want to chase after cats. As is typical of a guardian breed dog, Yukon will tend to bark at people or things that he does not know. With people, he quickly realizes that they are friendly and he wants to meet them by jumping up on them! His foster family is working with him on that bad habit. If he is barking over much at something outside, he generally just needs to be told quiet or to come inside and he will stop. While Yukon may have been an outside dog at his original home, he quickly adapted to inside life and has great house manners. He is not a counter surfer and does not try to get into things that he should not. However, he did have a hard time adapting to hard wood and tile floors. He would get especially nervous at corners or doorways making him move his back legs too fast and slip. Since his foster family could tell that he wanted to follow them around the house, they put down rugs on these areas that gave him trouble so that he could move freely about the house. Yukon would do best in a home with an active family who will give him lots of love. He is great with older children, but would probably be too rough for small children under 10. A fenced in yard with the fence height of at least 5 ft is required. Adoption Fee $350.00 Most of our dogs are boarded in a kennel with limited hours. The kennel owner works with the dogs to get to know them, then is able to provide additional information about the dog to only approved applicants. We update our information as we learn about them. Our adoption process begins with you submitting an online application. Please read the entire application and adoption process before submitting an application or inquiring about a specific golden. Know that our adoption process includes a vet background check and a home visit. We do adopt our golden rescue in surrounding states although you must be willing to come to where the golden is being fostered to pick him/her up. Visit www.TVGRR.com
