About Smitty

Urgent foster/adopter needed Smitty is a uniquely handsome boy with his own unique personality. He is a wonderful loving companion but does come with some challenging behaviors. I have had Smitty with me as my foster for approximately a month now. During this time, he has been affectionate, playful, very attentive and well behaved with me. He has received training and displays excellent manners. He is highly intelligent and learns commands quickly. Completely housetrained and non-destructive, walks well on a leash. But what has impressed me the most is how loving he is. I have seen a different side of Smitty though. He is highly stressed at the shelter. He expresses his frustration inappropriately. He also displays a tendency to guard me in the home. His reactions are too strong for the situation. These are behaviors that need working on. A professional eval described him as 'similar in nature to some strong guardian breeds- Confident in nature, but conflicted about the give-and-take of the human /dog relationship' iSmitty needs a strong, dog savvy handler to continue working with him. He will be going to a board& train program and then will have a training package included in any foster situation or preferably adoption. Smitty is located in Tucson Arizona.
