About Obie

Obie is a 1 and a half year old Husky mix and about 90 lbs! He's absolutely stunning, here's a message from his foster/previous owner: 'I rescued Obie One from the Alaska SPCA while I was living in Anchorage. I got him when he was a week and a half old! When I first got him, I bottle fed him every hour, even overnight! He grew from the 4 pounds and 6 ounces I got him at all the way up to almost 90lbs! I ended up needing to make the move to Massachusetts last summer. Obie was hit by a car almost immediately after I moved. He had a surgery to repair a radius-ulna fracture and has made a full recovery. He also was born with only one eye, but that doesn't bother him at all! He does very well without it and as of yet, requires no medical attention or extra care because of it. As far as Obie's behavior, he can be a difficult pup. He has resource guarding problems, so if treats, food or water are around he needs to be the only dog to get to them. Due to this, we think it would be best if he was the only dog in the home. He does pull while on walks and he can be reactive to strangers walking by, especially men. He also doesn't get along with children unfortunately, plus he can jump when he gets excited.' Obie's ideal home will be pet free and kid free, preferably with a backyard as he's very high energy. His forever family would definitely have to be prepared for lots of walks and exercise, as well as training. He has learned the basics to training quite well, he's skilled with sit, stay, down, off, leave it, heel, etc. As for Obie's personality, he's a total goof! He loves chasing his tail, and when he catches it he doesn't know what to do and keeps spinning! He's incredibly playful and attention seeking. He loves to fetch, wrestle, belly rubs, play tug of war...really anything that involves interacting with him. He always wants to be involved with what you're doing! If you're looking for a big, goofy, loving husky mix and you're willing to work with him, Obie might be the perfect boy for you!
