About Richie

Adoption Fee: $400
German Shepherd mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

This poor little thing is called Richie, and he suffered from human cruelty. In Rostov-on-Don (Russia) he was run over by car that broke his spine. Then somebody threw Richie into a deep pit where he had been lying for about a week. Everybody was passing by and nobody wanted to help the poor dog that even wasn't able to move! After a while flies began to fly over Richie, maggots appeared on his body. He was slowly dying in the heat without food and water and rotting alive. However someone still took a picture of the dying Richie and put it on the Internet asking for help. I saw this picture and could not remain indifferent to the misfortune of one tiny soul. And despite the fact that I myself was in the other country (the US), I decided at all costs to save him. After all, distance is not an obstacle if you really want to save a life. At my request, my friends, other animal volunteers, that live in Rostov-on-Don (Russia) found a car, arrived at the very pit, pulled out the dying Richie from there and brought him to the vet clinic. The vets made a full examination, X-RAY, MRI.... The doctors verdict : Spinal fracture with a complete rupture of the spinal cord. Richie will never be able to walk. But I did NOT euthanize this suffering little baby. Richie was completely cleared of maggots, his wounds were healed, the vets made droppers to stabilize the pup. Now Richie lives at the round-the-clock vet hospital. Doctors said that after a while he would be able to walk on a stroller. In Rostov-on-Don there is no chance for such a special dog to find home and even people who would like to foster Richie. After all the sufferings, Richie really needs loving parents! Even Moscow, the capital of Russia, refused to help us... And now Richie and I hope to find a family in the USA. Richie is a very kind boy. He is really tiny, just 24.251 pounds. He is young, from 1,5 to 2 y.o. In a month he will hopefully be able to walk on a stroller. He was miraculously saved and now he needs HIS HOME!
