About Jerry Lee

Jerry Lee is a sweet loving male 8 year old German Shepherd mix. He 73lbs, Jerry prefers the company of children over adults and prefers to have a child to be his pack leader obeys them so much better than he does adults. Jerry is best suited for experienced owners I would not recommend him to be home with the elderly because he has not had significant amount of leash training and he pulls quite hard and would not want him to hurt somebody he would not intentionally hurt anybody though. Jerry doesn't know his own strength. Jerry is very gentle with children would most likely do best with children who are a little older 10 and up. He needs a fenced-in yard or to live on a farm he will run off if you let him go off the leash.. he was severely neglected did not have food or water everyday when I got him from a family member who was 11 years old and didn't have proper adult supervision to care for Jerry. He is fully house trained and crate trained despite the fact that he spent all but two months of his eight years of life outside and a kennel with barely any socialization or exercise he does very well with kids and particular. He is not an aggressive dog he is just very sweet and loving and needs a place he can call home. I am his foster mother Dee and due to health reasons and the fact that he does not do well with my pack I need to rehome him. I want him to have the best home I can find for him I am located in Coshocton Ohio within reason I would be able to possibly meet halfway his new family. Jerry is not fixed due to the pandemic and I have only had him a couple of months. I have done the best I can with him due to some physical and health reasons I can no longer care for him and he needs to find a new home ASAP. I am strongly against kill shelters and refused to send him to what I want Jerry to find the best possible home he can find. He didn't he even knows some a few tricks sit lie down, Shake high five he can even open doors with his nose he's very smart. Jerry would make an excellent playmate for a child he doesn't play with traditional toys them as favorite toys are children he likes to play tag he does not harm them in any way he just loves children. Jerry doesn't have a problem with other dogs or even cats but my cat doesn't really get along with him. Jerry is not aggressive towards other animals in any way that I have witnessed but I have only had him a couple of months. Jerry has been neglected by the father of the child I got him from and did not get adequate food supply and did have some GI issues which were addressed by the vet and he's doing much better. He does have some anxiety he does not like to be left alone and he would do best in a home where someone is going to give him adequate attention walk a place to run things like that. Jerry must be primarily an indoor dog because he does best indoors vs. Outdoors he was so neglected and an outdoor kennel he had several infections and just did not do outdoors for the 8 years of his life it is required that he be an inside dog .
