About Harmony

Adoption Fee: $125
Siberian Husky
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

About 75 lbs; Harmony is very docile and due to her age medium-low energy. She could be good in a family with or without children. She has not been in a home with small pets or cats so I do not know how she would interact with them. She loves going on short walks. She is good with other dogs and can attend dog boarding/dog parks. She is food motivated which makes training a little easier. She knows basic commands like sit, down and stay. In typical husky nature she is vocal, especially when it comes to food time. Grooming is her least favorite thing in the world. She does better if someone from her family bathes her at a self-wash. She gets excited about getting in the car to go on an adventure but she does get a little anxious and will not lay down. Like many other huskies Harmony does not do well off leash. The need for adventure draws to her more than the sound of her pet parents voice. At her age and size she has developed some arthritis. She is not on any daily medications, but does have an as needed pain prescription for Tramadol. She had her first 'senior lab work' done about a year ago and everything came back great. Due to her arthritis she would do best in a ranch style home or first floor apartment with less than 3 steps to enter/exit. Harmony does not need a fenced backyard. She would be happier going on regular short walks instead of being left to roam and bored in the backyard. She does however like to sunbathe which seems strange for a husky but it soothes her bones/joints. Unlike many huskies she is not an escape artist. She will not climb or jump a fence or counter surf. But if you leave a door/fence cracked or unlocked she will take herself on an adventure. The vet told me that Harmony has a physically small bladder. She has had a history of bladder infections but with a supplement and occasional sani grooming she hasn't had any in years. Although she is house and crate trained, she still has the occasional accident. She should be in a home that can let her out at least 3-4 times a day. I have utilized dog diapers and she is 100% ok with someone putting them on and taking it off.
