Give us the time it takes you to submit an app and we'll give you our full attention Watson is an adorable 4 year old, 19 lb. Frenchton (Boston/Frenchie). He is a healthy boy, UTD on all his vaccines, neutered and is house trained. Watson started his life with a family, but after realizing they weren't ready to deal with puppy behavior and their young children, they put him in the basement and left him there alone. Other than feeding him, they did nothing to socialize or train him. After almost 2 years, he was turned in to a shelter. Given that Watson had never been socialized with humans or other animals, when his foster family picked him up, he was wild and almost uncontrollable. After several weeks of settling in with them, his training began and he has improved tremendously as a result. Watson is very intelligent and learns quickly. He is eager to make his humans happy and currently responds to multiple commands, such as sit, down, stay, come and toy. He has a ton of energy and would need to have that energy burned by some long walks and playtime. His foster family said he would greatly benefit from agility training which would stimulate his brain and provide exercise for his body. Introductions to any new dog need to be done very slowly over a course of several months, and the other dog would have to have a submissive personality. For that reason, Watson would be best as the #1 and only boy in the home. He has a strong prey drive and having a secure fenced in yard is required. He can become very anxious about noises he cannot see to identify, so he would be best in a more rural setting than a suburban or urban one. Watson is very puppy-like in his behavior and energy level. He always wants to play and views any object a human may have in their hand as a toy that he needs in his mouth. Potential adopters should be aware of this since he doesn't know how to gently take an item he feels can be his to play with. He has some triggers that incite him such as cardboard boxes, vacuum cleaners and anything that sprays water. When he sees these objects, he panics and attacks them. He will need someone who will anticipate his triggers and act accordingly. When deliveries are received, he should be kenneled until the perceived threat of a stranger is gone and the box is removed. Most of the time, he doesn't mean to bite but it happens when he grabs for the object in your hand, however on occasion e.g., the UPS driver pulling in, he wants to have his way even if he has to display bad behavior. Even with the issues Watson has presented, he has been a joy to foster. In the evening, he will snuggle next to his person and is ready to settle for the night. He would love to be under the covers with his person as long as he's the only dog. His ideal family would need to provide patience and strong leadership, but in return they will receive the loyalty and affection he's given his foster family who love him dearly.
