About Scruffy Jean

Scruffy Jean is a sweet pup who was born into our rescue on May 3, 2019 after her mamma was saved from a shelter here in Texas. Scruffy Jeans mamma is Sassy, who is also listed for adoption here with our rescue. All of Scruffy Jeans siblings have found forever homes and only Scruffy and her mamma are left. Scruffy Jean has been overly shy and somewhat fearful since birth and we feel its mostly an inherited trait as her mamma is the same way. The fear and shyness is strictly towards strangers and new 'scary' things like vet visits. For this reason Scruffy will need a home that will have patience with her as she adjusts and also an understanding that her initial meet and greet may not be an initial 'great start'. We know this is something she can get better with in the right home that has the time and experience to help her work through this. We know Scruffy to be a silly fun playful affectionate pup who gets along with all other dogs and although she may be scared of new people and experiences at first, there is not a mean bone in her body. We know Scruffy Jean LOVES toys so much that they are sometimes her security and she will carry them around for hours. Scruffy Jean is currently working on house manners and leash training and her socialization to new things is always a work in progress. We really feel she will do best in a home with other dog or dogs who will help her adjust to her new environment and allow her to know her new family is a safe one. She is only available to adopt to homes within decent traveling distance to Houston Tx in the event her new family needs help with her adjustment but also because Scruffy will not do well in long distance transport. Scruffy is also offered a a foster to adopt, meaning she will be allowed time in her new home before her family has to make a full commitment to her. We want to give her every opportunity to find that perfect home we know is out there. We do not feel Scruffy Jean will do well in a home with small children but will be good with kids who understand that some dogs just need a little time and gentleness to be your new best friend.
