About Mona

Adoption Fee: $125
Australian Cattle Dog / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

This sweet, fun iPhone dog emoji look-alike is in need of an active forever home! Mona was rescued as a puppy from the Navajo Nation where she was abandoned with a bad case of mange. After many months in foster care without finding a home, she was adopted by her foster family who unfortunately cannot provide her the level of activity and training that she needs. Mona loves to learn tricks and play with toys, and would probably be great for agility work. She gets excited on the leash but is gradually learning not to pull. She wants to do the right thing and has that typical cattle dog intelligence and intensity. She would love to come on morning runs and afternoon hikes with you! Because she was separated from other dogs during her formative months while she recovered from mange, Mona doesn't have the best social skills and needs a little help to learn how to meet and play with other dogs appropriately. She is currently living with another dog and loves to play, but would prefer to be the center of attention. She currently is not a great dog to bring to the dog park because she can be reactive but with a little work and adequate exercise she could do well. Mona still has a lot of puppy exuberance and is not a good fit for cats or small dogs/children that she could unintentionally hurt but loves all people. While she loves being active she is fine napping in her crate or cuddling on the couch during the day and is not destructive, so she would be fine in an apartment. She can jump pretty high so homes with a yard would need a tall, secure fence. She doesn't escape but she loves to defend the yard from squirrels. If you're looking for a rewarding dog to be your forever companion, consider giving Mona a chance! She has so much love to offer and just needs someone with a little experience and patience to help her be her best self.
