Hi, my name is MUNCH - ID#A4384520. I am a neutered male, white and gray American Pit Bull Terrier mix. The shelter staff think I am about 4 years old, and I have been at the shelter since Feb 24, 2020. Here is Munch's intake evaluation when he first arrived at the shelter: 2/24/2020 INTAKE ASSESSMENT Soft posture. Sought attention. Allowed vaccines with light restraint. Walked to kennel on leash. He has since begun to deteriorate in his kennel. This happens to all social animals eventually when they have been incarcerated for long periods of time. They need social interaction whether with other dogs or people. Following are recent reports about Munch: 4/24/2020 2ND EVALUATION Barrier reactive when exiting the kennel; fence fought on and off on the way to the yard. Quick entrance; invasive greeting. Friendly and responsive to the yard lead. Dominant and sexually motivated while interacting with the other dogs. Remained highly aroused but had on and off social interactions. 5/4/2020 ENRICHMENT Spent time in yard, was slighlty reactive to passing dogs. Affiliative with handler and enjoyed playing in yard. 5/5/2020 OBSERVATION Munch was calm in kennel, easy leash placement; pulled moderately hard in wing, attempted to fence fight with other barking/reactive dogs; in yard, playful and energetic; played fetch briefly; very affiliative with handler, leaned into petting; followed handler around yard; demonstrated 'sit' for treats; attempted to fence fight on return but entered kennel without issue, easy leash removal. 5/11/2020 OBSERVATION calm in kennel, easy leash placement; pulled moderately strong in yard; growled at other dogs in neighboring kennels; in yard, very affiliative with handler; leaned into petting; demonstrated 'sit' for treats; enjoyed running and wading in pool; on return, attempted to fence fight with dog in neighboring kennel, had to redirect with treats; once settled, easy leash removal. 5/15/2020 OBSERVATION Dog would not rise from bed when called. Considering the length of time that Munch has been at the shelter, he may be getting close to being put on the list for euthanasia. Please consider giving this sweet boy a home and make him your next furry family member.
