About Red

Redbone Coonhound / American Staffordshire Terrier
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Red is a 5 year old Staffordshire/Coonhound mix. Her heart is so full of love it just leaks out of her! Red can be a little unsure sometimes and will look to her people for direction. She'll need to borrow some of your confidence sometimes until she learns to be a strong independent woman! Red will need someone who is decisive and purposeful with confidence to spare. While she is very excited to see other dogs, she's not quite sure how to interact appropriately quite yet. Red is courteous to the other dogs in her foster home, but when approached by dogs outside the home, she can be a little overbearing and rude. She's learning to socialize properly in a structured and supervised daycare experienced in rehabilitating under-socialized dogs a few times a week and is making good progress, but until she's more skilled, on leash greetings with other dogs is strongly discouraged. Her foster mom is a dog trainer, helping her learn to be more sure of herself and handle all the situations her future life may throw at her. She's committed to helping Red have a successful forever home and will help with any training needs her new family may have. Red does well in a crate and it's recommended that she spend some time in it during the day to help with her mild separation anxiety, although she LOVES to cuddle in bed when she gets the chance. Red will certainly need someone willing to put in the time to make sure she can live her best life, but she will repay you tenfold with love, loyalty, and affection! Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email [email protected] for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments.
