About Duke - PENDING

Adoption Fee: $375
Australian Cattle Dog / Beagle
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Duke was picked up as a stray dog by an animal control officer (ACO) in MS. There are many stray dogs in this area and generally, ACOs do not name the dogs or allow themselves to become attached. Not many get to leave this facility alive. Duke won over the ACO and was given a name. Due to his friendly (and slightly goofy), light-hearted personality, Duke was also given a reprieve. Instead of 3 days - he was given 6 days for people to network and find him rescue. As you can see in one photo below, Duke's eyes were sad, his spirit - broken. If only he could tell us his story. One of our amazing foster parents, saw his pictures and volunteered to help him. We offered Duke a new life in VT. You can see how happy he is in all of the other photos. His eyes are smiling now! Duke's life has completely turned around! He enjoys spending time with his foster parents and gets along great with other dogs. This handsome boy likes to go for walks and has excellent couch warming skills. We do not provide DNA testing which is the only way to know with certainty which breeds are in his genetic background. Our best guess is Cattle dog mix. Duke currently weighs 45 lbs. We estimate his age to be around 7-8 years, but do not have an official date of birth. We can not guarantee his age, but as you can see in the videos - Duke moves well and has a lot of love to share. Highlights about Duke: - Housebroken - Crate trained - Loves to hang out with his foster family - Great with people - Great with other dogs - Champion couch warmer - Friendly and affectionate - Up-to-date on vaccines - Already neutered - Heartworm negative - tested in May 2020 Our adoption fee is $375 which includes age appropriate vaccines (such as Distemper, Bordetella, Parvo, Rabies), neutering, worming, micro-chipping, and health exam. Discount vouchers for training, grooming and similar dog related products and services are provided. First vet visit is now FREE with participating VT veterinarians.
