About Finn

Adoption Fee: $350
Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

This handsome red boy is Finn. He was born in mid-November of 2019 and should be within breed standard weight range when he is done growing. Fin is learning his basics quickly. He knows: Leave it (this is a big one for him, it stops his barking and excitement around other dogs) and Sit (works inside, gets distracted outside). He is currently learning Stay, Place, and Down. Finn has done well with house training. He will whine to go out. He is also crate trained. Since he is still a puppy, his adopters need to be ready to reinforce all that he has learned, including house training. Finn is a social guy. He is good with men and women. We won't place him with small kids, though, just because he is a pup. Finn came to us afraid of other dogs and has been working on this in his foster home. He needs a SLOW introduction and, with patience, he does learn that he won't be harmed. From there, he likes to play. He does have fun playing with the other dog in his foster home. He also needs a dog who will correct him when his punky Cattledog play style becomes too much. If he is in a home with other dogs, he should not have to share food, treats, or toys. With positive reinforcement, he should be fine with most dogs. He will definitely not be a dog park boy, though. Finn is going to be a fun guy. He does fetch, and is just starting to learn that the game is more fun when he brings the ball back. Finn is learning about the leash. He doesn't tug on it but has to refine his Heel command. He is also good in the car, so will be a good adventure partner. Finn is looking for an active home who will keep him busy and reinforce his training. He would not be suitable for an apartment or left out where he can hear other lots of other dogs barking because that sometimes causes him to start to bark. Finn is one of those rare Cattledogs who loves to meet new people. Finn does an 'after dinner' dance where he jumps around and wiggles his little tail. He loves to 'boop' stuff with his nose, so watch out for cans and drinks on tables he can get to. He will try to tip them over. He thinks he is a lap dog and WILL try and get in your lap if you let him. He likes belly rubs and wants to be around his human as much as possible. Finn is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. We do not ship our dogs. He is available for a meeting and adoption in SoCal. A home visit and vet reference are required.
