About Rosco

Adoption Fee: $100
Lab / Pit Bull
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

My sweet boy Rosco who is approximately 4 years old is available for adoption. His birthday has been placed as 6/1 though we don't know exactly how old he is. My husband was in a horrific motorcycle accident and has been unable to work for over a year now... and with all of his medical bills and lack of work we just cannot keep our boy. Rosco has Valley Fever which has become too much for me to afford on a single income for his monthly medication ($60-100/month) and blood work every 3 months ($100-250). Valley Fever is not contagious from dog to dog nor is it contagious from dog to human. Valley Fever cannot technically be cured but can go into remission. He is currently supposed to be taking Itraconazole which can be purchased with a prescription at any human pharmacy. He has been off this medication for about 6 months. He will need an exam and blood work to get started again. I am happy to provide my vet info to you where I work or you can take him to your preferred vet. He also takes fish oil and sometimes takes veterinary prescribed anti-inflammatory meds when he is limping. His Valley Fever infection mostly affects his right elbow and shoulder. He could also use a teeth cleaning. He is otherwise healthy. Rosco is microchipped, fully vaccinated and up to date including Rabies and Lepto, current on flea/tick control, and neutered. Will come with nice food/water bowl set and floor may, appropriate sized kennel (he is kennel trained), a few toys, and whatever food we have left at the time. He knows many commands (sit, wait, shake, down, go to kennel, off, speak, whisper, watch em, heel, load up, etc) and is house broken. He mostly likes to lounge on the couch but is almost always up for a walk or playtime. He does NOT do well with nails trims unless he has them grinded down with a dremel. Pretty much any groomer can do this for you about once a month. He has not spent a lot of time around other dogs but does not show aggression. He gets very excited around other dogs so any introductions need to be carefully controlled. He is also good with cats INSIDE the home. Outdoor cats he WILL try to chase. As I'm sure it is obvious... Rosco is a very good boy and we love him so much...but we can no longer be selfish. It is not fair for him to be in pain when someone else could love him just as much and be able to treat his condition. We need to find him a good home that understands his medical needs and can comfortably address them. We do not post this lightly and we will carefully consider any applicants. Sincerely, Rachael (and hubby)
