About Sonja (Jett)

Although her rescue name is Sonja, her foster mom has been calling her Jett, because she moves really quickly when she wants to go somewhere - especially outside - and because her coat is almost jet black. This 2-year-old lab mix came off the streets but has been living indoors at a foster home since the last week of April. Here's what her foster mom says about her: Jett is never far from any of us, and she greets people with an embrace, wrapping her legs around their waists. She brings her toys to my bed, waits for me when I am at work and follows me like my shadow when I am home. Her favorite toy is Lamb Chop, which she loves to toss. Her favorite pastime is going for walks. She will even fetch her own leash from atop the crate to let us know she wants to go outside! Walks are fun, but Jett is still learning to heel, and we are working on getting her not to pull, as well as containing her excitement. Jett also loves going on car rides and will try to steal the 'shotgun' seat from any other passengers on the trip. On longer trips, she just goes to sleep. She has not had a single accident in the house, and so far, there have been no furniture or household casualties! So far, Jett has learned the commands for sit, up and down (for furniture), and load up (get into the car). We are working on stay, shake, no and here. She knows what these words mean, but she listens selectively. She can be a bit stubborn and would do best with an owner who devotes time to training and reinforcement of desired behaviors.
