About Luther aka 'Lou'

Adoption Fee: $50
Australian Cattle Dog mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

If you like playing catch, this is the dog for you! Luther is an energetic, ball catching, outdoor loving male dog. He will want to go everywhere you do, especially if it's on a walk or somewhere outdoors. Like a true cattle dog, he's a smarty and even taught himself some commands. He's still a quick learner and is treat motivated! Not uncommon in cattle dogs, he's had some negative behaviors. Lou currently lives with two dogs now (50lb male and 16lb female), but he has shown aggression towards other dogs and we don't recommend he's in a home with dogs for that reason. He has been good with our baby, but Luther doesn't seem to be adjusting well now that he's more mobile and grabby. We would recommend that Luther be in a home with no kids, or older kids who understand dog's signs to stop. Luther walks well on a leash for his dad, but not for me (mom). The ideal situation for him would be a one or two adult home with no other pets or children, access to a backyard, and human who is assertive but not aggressive towards him. Experience or knowledge of cattle dog behavior is a plus. Luther's potty trained but not crate trained. Lou had surgery when he was 5 months old on his intestines, but otherwise has been healthy. Luther's been in our home since he was a puppy and we have his full health history, more photos, and will answer any questions you have. We're sad that we can't be his forever home, but we want to make sure he finds the best home he deserves.
