About Odin

Adoption Fee: $150
Mastiff
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

We are in desperate need of someone to take in our Cane Corso. He is 6 years old and an absolutely amazing dog who does not deserve the life he is currently living. Up until a few years ago he lived peacefully with 3 small dogs, but then he had a necrotic infection that required some intense surgery and debridement and removal of necrotic tissue every 2 days. He was under extreme stress during these times and his demeanor changed, forcing us to make the decision to separate him from our other 3 dogs. He lived separately from them for the past 3.5 years but we had an unexpected job change in Decelmber that moved us into a home that does not allow for separation and also puts our yard in proximity to 4 other yards, 3 of which have dogs in them. He spends most of his days in his kennel due to selective listening to me and me being very pregnant and not being able to get him to listen and behave. My husband is able to get him to listen and correct him but he works 50+ hours and is not here often. Odin gets to go outside early morning and late at night when other dogs are inside and that is about it. He lives with 3 children under the age of 8 and while he is great with them, he has a hard time remembering his size and would be better suited with older children. He needs to be an only dog in the home unless he receives the proper rehabilitation and training necessary to safely have him with other dogs. He has a very high prey drive so small animals and dogs are out of the question. He is a healthy dog and very protective. We would love to see him end up somewhere where he can live his very best life instead of the crappy situation in which he has found himself in with us. He just turned 6 years old on 4/21 and weighs approximately 150lbs. He needs regular exercise and a yard to spend time in and kids and owners to love and protect. We can help with transport if it puts him in the hands of someone who can help him, though we are limited.
