About Barkley

Adoption Fee: $180
Pit Bull mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Meet Barkley This beautiful, young dog has experienced a lifetime of hurt already. When found he was hiding under a car, too scared to come out. From what we heard, he was running for his life and caused an accident while doing so. Everyone is all right, but Barkley was terrified. And from the looks of him, he was running around because someone didn't give a lick about him. His collar was embedded in his neck. It's still healing so the scars are visible and may always be. If that wasn't bad enough, Barkley was sent to a high-kill shelter where we rescued him. Poor Barkley. Life has been especially tough for this little guy. Until now! Barkley arrived at our shelter on May 4, 2020. He's starting to relax and is being showered with love and attention. Our shelter is probably the only place where he's had a safe place to lay his head at night. In spite of his abuse and neglect, Barkley is a love. He's 11 months old and absolutely stunning. He sports a sweet and smiley face, a beautiful cream-colored coat and the cutest of ears. Barkley is thought to be a terrier mix. He is 39 lbs. of adorableness. He loves being around people and appreciates any kindness shown him. He thinks he's a lap dog lol! He loves playing and LOVES his belly rubs. He knows some commands and is super smart. He walks well on a leash and enjoys being in the play yards getting some fresh air, although he seems to be afraid of passing vehicles so we make sure he's up in our yards as far from the cars as possible. He seems to like other dogs and likes to play with his mate, Wilson, who we rescued at the same time. Barkley also seems to be cat friendly. Barkley has a lot of good energy and just wishes to belong to someone who cares about him. If you're looking for a great family dog with a joy for life, Barkley may be your guy. He could sure use some TLC and a kind heart to erase his past. He'll be neutered, fully-vetted and micro-chipped before going home.
