About Charlie

Adoption Fee: $300
Dalmatian
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Charlie is a purebred Dalmatian. He was born 10/25/2018. He was purchased from a pet store around 5 months of age. His breeder information is questionable at best. Overall, Charlie is a sweet boy who loves to cuddle and play. He has started showing some aggression toward me upon correction or redirection with bad behavior. He doesn't have the best manners as Dalmatians are known counter surfers so he has no issue getting whatever he wants from the counter/table/stovetop. He has bit me upon correction. We don't use physical methods of correction (hitting, kicking, shock collars etc) but he tends to react to stern voices or quick movements as if he has experienced something physical before. I have had him for one year and he has greatly improved in some areas but the aggression upon correction is getting progressively worse. He is crate trained but the crate is not used as punishment. He goes in the crate when we are not home. He has been raised around other dogs (both males, one neutered and the other intact). He is raised with cats and has never tried to hurt them but he will chase them in the house from time to time if he's overflowing with energy. He's been raised with kids and overall does well but he has snapped at one of my children unprovoked. He is a family dog and was not purchased for breeding. He would be neutered but it's recommended to wait until 2 years of age due to urinary stone formation and blockages. Charlie has shown no signs of crystals or stone formation. Charlie will only be adopted out as a family pet. It breaks my heart to do this but I'm not in a position to shoulder the financial burden of extensive training. It is my hope that he will be placed with someone educated on the breed, with the patience and means to train him properly. He has the potential to be a lifelong companion. Unfortunately, I'm unable to provide what he needs to ensure that.
