About Orsen

PLEASE READ EVERYTHING BEFORE APPLYING TO ADOPT ORSEN - This happy little bear is Orsen. A low rider with high hopes of finding his happily furever after fairy-tail with his pack, Orsen didn't have the best start to life. We found Orsen at a shelter, shutdown. His foster dad said he was very fearful and reserved, unsure of whether he was safe and could trust this new-found freedom. Orsen has a bite history. His lack of trust and constant state of survival mode thinking has created a behavior called resource guarding. When he feels threatened or like he may have something taken away, particularly his toys, his instinct is to bite and protect. For this reason, we are not allowing Orsen to be adopted into a home with children. He needs a stable, predictable home with patient humans who can help him learn to trust again and give him the TLC, training, and a routine to help continue his rehabilitation and give him a long, healthy and happy life. His current foster dad is working with one of our trainers on his biting and resource guarding, but this is something that he will need his furever humans to continue working with him on. Now, almost 1 month into his new life, Orsen has started to open up! Once he lets his guard down and feels safe, Orsen is quite the little lover. He loves to snuggle and hang by your side, he rarely barks, is great on leash, LOVES to go on walks and runs, sunbathe in the grass, and cruise around town with his head out the window. Orsen doesn't just look wise, he's one smart cookie! He knows quite a few commands and has good manners with the exception of his fear biting and resource guarding; he loves his 'home' which is how his foster refers to his crate. He doesn't, however, like surprises. You will need to work with Orsen on meeting new people and he will require someone who can help with a proper, slow introduction to someone new to help him with trust and remove the fear-based anxiety and his protective reactivity.
