About Leo

Poor little Leo found himself surrendered to a south Texas high kill shelter at about 9 months of age. His owner named him Grouchy and he was nothing but skin and bones. Clearly, he did not have a great start in life. He has resided at our rescue for over a year now and has come along way, but he still has little desire for human interaction, though he is curious. He gets along great with other dogs and they make him feel secure. He takes treats gently from my hands, and I feel the right person could really help him come out of his shell and lower his defenses but I just do not have the individualized time needed to spend with him... to make him understand that not all humans are evil and going to hurt him. I am looking for someone who is very patient and kind and willing to take all of the time necessary to turn this little boy's life around and make him feel loved, special, and part of someone's family. He can be very fear aggressive when cornered so some experience with these types of dog issues is necessary. I am willing to reduce and/or waive the adoption fees to the right person, who is willing to take him in as part of their family and give him a forever home and give him the love that he is so desperately deserves. He is approx 2 years old, 14 pounds, neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations and on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
