About Tootsie

My name is Tootsie and I'm looking for my forever home! I was rescued minutes from death at a high kill shelter in Texas. I am a sweet 6 year old Staffordshire Terrier mix and I weigh about 55 lbs. I've had a rough start to my life. I was bred over and over again. I had never felt love or a simple pet on the head. When I was no longer of use to them. they dumped me on the street. A mean dog also hurt me once, so I have some scars on my ear. But my foster mom tells me I'm beautiful inside and out, and I am! I used to be very malnourished (as you can see in some of my photos), but now I'm feeling so much better thanks to my foster mom! I really love all people, male and female, but I'm not sure about other dogs or cats. I love to chase the squirrels in my foster mom's backyard, play with my stuffed animals, balls and chew toys. Taking rides in the car is really fun too. I also love long naps with my foster mom, snuggling, cuddling, and sometimes I think I'm a lap dog! I'm working on learning some commands like 'sit'. Unfortunately I'm not the best with walking on a leash, I've never been on a leash so it confuses me. But I know if someone worked with me, I could learn how to properly walk with one! I need a mom, dad or both, with a big heart, some patience, and lots of love to give. In return, I will love you unconditionally. I'm currently in Texas with my foster mom, but she says we can arrange transport to an approved adopter! Please consider taking me home!
