Thumper, along with others, needed some extra training and help adjusting to a new life so they were sent to foster care with us. In foster care, we realized that Thumper and Bug are a bonded pair and need to be adopted together. Thumper is an energetic and mischievous dog. At around a year old, she definitely behaves like a puppy. She loves chewing on sticks, chasing Bug, and getting into mild trouble. If Thumper comes to your home, you better put up your shoes and coasters because they may end up in her crate. Speaking of crates, she is crate trained and really uses that as her safe space. She sleeps quietly with Bug all night in the crate with no accidents! Both Bug and Thumper have been learning a lot of new things, like enjoying the sunshine (they hadn't been outside before coming to foster care), potty training, and coming when called. Like we mentioned, Thumper has to be adopted with Bug, as they are quite bonded. While their foster home is making big strides in training and getting them used to their new life, they still need a lot of work and a lot of patience. Right now, they are not leash trained. They both are happy and excited to see people and will lick your hand, but they are still timid and can startle easily. They don't enjoy being held, yet. Will that being said, Thumper and Bug need to be adopted by a family that is committed to their continued training and has the tools and experience necessary to get them as close to 'normal' as possible. They are great with other small dogs (unknown with large dogs). We haven't seen them around children, but they are easily startled so a home with no children under 15 is a must. Thumper is a bit of a cat chaser because she wants to play, so confident cats who can defend themselves are acceptable in the home.
