About Humphrey (west)

Hi, my name is HUMPHREY - ID#A4388616. I am a neutered male, white and brown American Bulldog mix. The shelter staff think I am about 2 years and 1 month old, and I have been at the shelter since Mar 02, 2020. CLOSE TO EUTHANASIA He was friendly, energetic, tail wagging, dog social, but now, Humphrey is deteriorating, and not doing well in the shelter environment, or with other dogs. We recommend either no kids, or older kids. Recent notes about Humphrey by volunteers who have spent time with Humphrey: 4/18/2020 ENRICHMENT Canine was at kennel door, wagging tail when handler approached. Jumping on kennel door when attempting to leash. Once out canine pulled on leash so handler made an improvised harness. Out on the trail canine calmed some, friendly with handler, enjoyed being pet. Easy to return to kennel. 4/20/2020 OBSERVATION Energetic/jumping in kennel but easy leash placement, pulled strong to yard; in yard, dog was energetic and mouthy/jumpy with handler, very grabby with treats; eventually settled and sat for treats; allowed petting; pulled strong back to kennel, easy leash removal. 4/21/2020 OBSERVATION Energetic/jumping in kennel, easy leash placement; pulled strong to yard; in yard, ran and explored but attempted to jump on handler multiple times, attempted to mouth at handlers arms, hand and shirt; playful at first, then vocalized/growled; stiff-armed and waited for dog to settle; sat for treats, grabby with treats; leaned into petting, quickly became over-aroused; allowed time for dog to burn energy in yard, then returned to kennel - no issues on return.
