Hi, my name is GEORGE - ID#A4384145. I am a neutered male, blue and white American Pit Bull Terrier mix. The shelter staff think I am about 8 years old, and I have been at the shelter since Feb 22, 2020. My friends tell me that there are some pretty incredible people out there looking to do incredible things like adopt a senior into their lives. Well, I have the best news for those people! I am YOUR GUY! :) I'm about 8 years young with a love for life that is so contagious that you can't help but want to live life with a smile like mine. I've been described as a sassy senior who loves walks, treats, toys, and seriously good back scratching. Here are some notes from volunteers who recently spent time with George: 3/29/2020 ENRICHMENT Moderate to leash, pulled hard toward building exit. Once outside of buildings, walked moderately well on leash, occasional pulling. Canine was not overly affiliate with female handler but very social with other male volunteer we encountered on our walk. Non-reactive to other dogs when returning to kennels, did pull strongly when re-entering his kennel. 4/16/2020 WALK High arousal in kennel, jumping up, barking; grabby with treats through gate; pulled on leash; explored/sniffed while walking away from building; very treat motivated, demonstrated 'sit', but then would jump up for treats, slightly grabby with treats; leaned into petting, rolled on the ground/dirt. 4/19/2020 ENRICHMENT Canine was easy to pull from kennel, pulled on leash on the way to the yard. Once in yard canine became jumpy and mouthy but was easily distracted with treats. Canine explored yard and was affiliative with handlers. Friendly with handlers in yard, solicited attention.
