About Sam

Sam was abandoned in an apartment complex and eventually rescued, when no one claimed him. Sam is a playful, sweet boy, with a docked tail. Sam is a neutered male, is HW neg, UTD and has 6 months HW protection. Sam is a little temperamental, and is very protective of his food and treats. Best fed in his crate, as he is comfortable with that. Do not recommend small children, for this reason. Sam seems to have fear of some adult males, and the common-denominator is not yet discovered, so he will do best in a home with females, although he does live in a foster home with a heterosexual couple, and is OK with the husband; just a particular family member who visits evidently seems to trigger a fearful memory. We do know that, if sufficiently afraid, with no 'escape', Sam will snap and bite, if not handled with patience. Sam has a history of systemic abuse, and for now, has not recovered fully from that. So the right adopter would understand this, and be willing to work with his fear. Otherwise, this is a loyal lap-boy, who just wants to play, love and be loved. If you are a Chihuahua lover, and understand the breed, this might be your New Best Friend! All he needs is Love and a little understanding.
