About Clifford

Lab mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Needs: %BD%BD%BD'%BD Adult Home. Clifford is a beautiful Big Red Dog whose terribly sad story is ready for a happy new chapter. This 8 year old, 70 lb Red Fox Labrador mix was dragged in on a chain and dumped by his owner at a southern shelter with his mouth duct taped shut. This golden-red guy had clearly never experienced kindness, was terrified and in pain. As part of our Save-A-Geezer program, we took Clifford in. We discovered he had a number of very treatable conditions - skin infections, hip dysplasia, heartworm, and arthritis. With supplements, antibiotics, gentle care and his heartworm treatment behind him, he has already transformed into a happier soul who greets new people with a cautiously optimistic tail wag. During his treatment he has been boarding at our vet's office, and he is a big favorite of the staff. One of them lovingly says Clifford's wrinkly right ear makes him think of Nemo's lucky fin. Clifford is excellent on leash and very food motivated to learn new skills. Clifford is looking for a calm and patient adult home where he can enjoy his new favorite things for the rest of his life. His needs are simple; he loves a nice soft bed, quiet snoozes, a couple of walks a day and most of all, regular meals! Clifford is extremely fond of his toys, and loves to play fetch. This Big Red Dog is looking for a big-hearted home who will continue his supplement regimen, and who will promise to give him a life full of peace and lots of treats. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care, so please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested prior to submitting. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health and safety of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering, and microchipping before transporting our dogs. Then, we provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources, so if you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.
