About Zada Mae

Adoption Fee: $30.00
Treeing Walker Coonhound
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

We rescued Zada Mae from a county shelter. (Yes...a kill shelter) The vet said that she is 3 to 5 years old. What we know of her background is that she was in a backyard breeder situation. She was used for breeding babies. She lived in a cage with cement floors. She wasn't potty trained. We didn't care. We fell in love with her! When we got her home, we discovered that she didn't know how to be a puppy. Broke our hearts. She didn't know how to walk on a leash and was afraid of the grass. She was afraid of her bed and blanket. We had to coax her to the bed, cover her up and comfort her. She didn't know what toys were, not even a ball. She is afraid of loud noises ( doors slamming, loud voices and lawnmowers.) So sad. However that all changed!!! Except for the loud noises part. She is almost totally potty trained. Very few accidents. She can walk on a leash but still pulls, mostly out of excitement. Our yard isn't fenced so we have a tether staked in the yard. She loves it! She loves to run, smell the grass and act goofy! She isn't left unattended. We stay and play! We praise her potty skills and give her treats. Always has shade and water. And we don't leave her out there all day. (Not like some other fur babies have to live.) We are in and out of the house all day long lol. She is a HAPPY FUR BABY. There is so much to tell about her so if your at all interested...give me a call. The reason we need to find a new home for her is because of my father health. He has dementia. We really felt that she would be therapeutic for him. Something to think about and love. Turns out that he just wasn't interested. As you probably already know, fur babies need a lot of time and attention. We have found that we just can't juggle her needs and my father's dementia. It is breaking our hearts with the idea of having to find her a new home. We love her so much. We are saddened but at least we were able to rescue her. It was her last day of availability. Than you know what would be next. I guess we were just meant to save her and find her the best forever home out there. If you think that might be you, give us a call. You never know.
