About FREYER-AR - $250

Adoption Fee: $250
Rottweiler
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

FREYER was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine FREYER is spayed, core vaccines, rabies, heart-worm & tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. She is estimated to be around 3-5 years old. FREYER arrived at the rescue on 25th February 2020 and was adopted on 7 March by a family who had a female rottie and was looking for a companion for her. The first few weeks at home, all things seemed great, Freyer was responsive, happy and loving, however, the relationship between the two dogs was not going good and on a few occassions Freyer and the other dog got into a fight. Since it wasn't working out with the dogs, Freyer was returned to the rescue on 13th April where we are now looking for a family with no other dogs since it is believed this is what Freyer needs and we do not want to risk any harm coming to any other dogs. When Freyer first arrived at the rescue she was very underweight, but has filled out wonderfully and is looking and by the way she acts is feeling great. She is extremely loving, playful, energetic and a bundle of joy. She gets excited with her humans and will grab toys and toss them and throw them around. She is big cuddle bug, with so much love and snuggles to share. She is an active girl and so will definitely need a family that is active that can give her the lifestyle that she needs. Training is a must for all dogs, but since she is an intelligent working breed girl, continued mental stimulation is needed to keep her mentally challenged and stimulated. We are looking for a family that is familiar with working breed dogs and understands their needs, of mental and physical exercise. She needs a family that understands the importance of training so that she understands expectations, rules and boundaries and by being trained by her family helps both family and dog learn each others personality and body language. Freyer has been loving and affectionate with everyone that she has met, she is a big girl so if small children then of course being knocked over when she gets excited is to be taken into consideration. We have not seen her around cats or livestock and so cannot comment how she would be, although we think she would be best being the only pet who can flourish in sharing her love with her new family. All dogs use dog doors to go out and do their business or to enjoy the cool, fresh weather in their dog runs or communal areas. We cannot say if a dog is house-trained, however, we expect families to understand that all dogs need a transition period and accidents could happen and training is most definitely needed. All dogs are fed Rachael Ray Nutrish PEAK Natural Dry Dog Food, Grain Free Western Grasslands Recipe with Bison. Rachael Ray Nutrish Peak Dog Food receives the Dog Food Advisor's second-highest tier rating of 4.5 stars. FREYER is available for a REDUCED ADOPTION FEE of US $350. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of saving all of the dogs we do, the running, upkeep and maintenance of the rescue. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. All that is needed to take dogs into Canada is a copy of the adoption contract (receipt) and current rabies for pups over 3 months of age. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the ADOPTION INFO tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION.
