About Ronan (west)

Hi, my name is RONAN ID#A4350925. I am a neutered male, brindle American Pit Bull Terrier, and I weigh about 58 lbs. The shelter staff think I am about 2 years and 4 months old, and I have been at the shelter since Dec 03, 2019. He is friendly, sits for treats, coexisted with a female dog, likes to play with stuff animals, easy to pull and return, but can be a strong puller on walks. Ronan has a tendancy to guard food, so we recommend no small children. Here are some notes from volunteers who recently spent time with Ronan: 3/9/2020 WALK Calm in kennel; easy pull/return; quiet and affectionate; likes to play with stuffed animals; laid back but warms up after some time. 3/23/2020 WALK Calm and friendly in kennel; easy pull, moderate return; loose leash walker; took treats, solicited petting; walks very nice, right next to handler; takes treats nicely, enjoyed getting scratches, leaned into petting; attempted to kennel fight on return. 4/1/2020 ENRICHMENT Very easy kennel pull; some pulling on leash; appeared friendly at fence greeting energetic, social female dog; greeted other dog then growled, started to snap when other dog jumped up and pawed this dog's face; with more polite female dog- on leash greeted, inspected, kept tall stance, headovers- appeared socially awkward but assertive, other dog was tolerant of this dog's invasive interactions. 4/6/2020 2ND EVALUATION Approached front of kennel and jumping on kennel door. When handler presented leash canine had high tail and became stiff. Softened and handler was able to leash. Once out pulled hard to yard. Entered yard fast and greeted in forward manner. Canine engaged in some play and roamed yard able to co-exist. 4/7/2020 OBSERVATION Energetic in kennel but easy leash placement; pulled hard on leash; affiliative with handler - leaned into petting, jumped front paws onto handlers body for attention; came to handler when called; enjoyed sprinting from one end of the yard to the other, enjoyed exploring and playing with toys when handler would engage; easy return to kennel/easy leash removal.
