Meet DiscoverMe Dog TYSON! | Available for Adoption | So Cal Only --- That's right, we have another new furry face in the DiscoverMe Project and he hails from the San Diego county shelter in Bonita! Please give a warm welcome to a total superstar - TYSON!! This handsome pittie is around 8 years young and has been bounced around a lot, but you'd really never know it by his friendly demeanor, easy companionship and good house manners. Even though his former people didn't keep him, they must have loved him at some point, and it shows. He used to live with several young children and was described as calm, happy and cuddly. Then Tyson somehow managed to kill a neighborhood cat, and his owner gave him up. Does it suck that this happened? Yes, it most definitely does - but Mr. Mushface is a dog, a regular guy. Obviously Tyson shouldn't be in a home with felines and his backyard should be secure. Does this mean he isn't a good dog who deserves a wonderful forever home of his own? Heck no. He's a GEM of a dog and will make the BEST addition to the right family someday. Tyson is one of those rockstar pibbles blessed with debonair looks, a ton of brains, an infinite desire to please, and a passion for a good game of fetch. He's been in and out of the shelter more than once and was a staff and volunteer favorite with each visit. He's gentle, people oriented, affectionate, and very responsive to commands. In fact, he already knows - Sit, Speak, Down, Shake, Stay and Drop It! GO TYSON!!! He's also house and crate trained, knows to stop at the curb on walks, and he's great about checking in with his people all the time. He's a real pit bull Ambassadog, someone who changes public misconceptions just by being his awesome people-lovin' self. Ty is looking for responsible loving parents with a single family home and nice yard. He'd be great with just one parent or a large family of any size humans, in a quiet or busy household. He's adaptable! He hopes his future people will encourage all of his smarts and enjoy training with their dog. Tyson rings in at just under 70 lbs but could lose a couple in time for the beach season :) He may be able to live with a well matched companion pup of similar size, but hasn't met any that we know of. He is with us in foster care so please inquire with WDR. *** ABOUT THE DISCOVERME PROJECT - waggingdog.org/dmp - The DiscoverMe Project is a program that allows sheltered dogs and cats from the County of San Diego Department of Animal Services - Carlsbad Shelter to go into temporary 2-week foster care with an approved Wagging Dog Rescue foster home so they can get a break from the stresses of being kenneled while providing mental, emotional and physical relief. While in foster care, we're able to learn more about the dog/cat when in a normal home environment, which doesn't always align with behavior seen in a stressful kennel environment. We share that valuable information with shelter staff and potential adopters in order to aid shelter marketing and adopter selection. Through rigorous marketing and promotion, we ultimately hope not to return the DiscoverMe Dog or DiscoverMe Cat to the shelter but instead to see that animal safely in the care of a forever family or reputable rescue with a foster care provider.
