About Finnick

Adoption Fee: $200
Skye Terrier mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Name: Finnick of Spotsylvania Sex: Male Spayed/Neutered: Yes Breed: Terrier (long coat) Weight: estimated 12 lb Height: estimated 12 in Estimated Birthdate: 7/12/2011 Fence Needed: It would be in his best interest to have a fence since he is so timid. Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Adoption Fee:$200 Date into Rescue: 7/7/18 (he has been here a while - sometimes rehab is measured in more than days or weeks, sometimes it is years) Reason for being in rescue: Owner passed away - but Finnick and his canine family were neglected before the death. Far too many dogs in far too small of a place and no cleanliness or routine care (good food, clean water, grooming, or vet care) The dogs were in the home when the owner had passed away. We don't know how long they lived with no humans to help them, but they were in terrible condition. It has taken a long time to turn this little family around but we take the long view. Special Needs: none noted What kind of home would be best for me: We are seeking a home with an experienced dog owner that is familiar and willing to work with skittish dogs. Like his name sake, Finnick is a true survivor. It will take someone with skill to change his stars. He will never be the gregarious social butterfly that a normal pet will be. But somewhere, someday, we hope to find someone who will love Finnick for himself. A happy, gregarious and well balanced small dog in the home as a buddy is a must for Finnick. What is my personality like: Finnick is a dog that wants to be loved but does not know how to accept it. Whenever our back is turned he likes to run up and lick the back if your leg, just like his brother Gale! Finnick is going to need to learn how to be a normal dog. Right now he does not know any basic commands nor does he know how to walk on a leash. He will take treats but not from your hands. Finnick gets along great with other dogs and especially his brother Gale. Finnick has been here since 2018 and he deserves to know what a home is! How do I act when I first meet new people: Skittish Tips and Tidbits: Estimated birthdate 7/12/2011 House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
