About Waylon

Woohoo, it's Waylon! This energetic, playful boy is a 30 pound, 9 month old terrier/heeler mix (as best we and the vet can guess). Waylon was A Place Of Hope Rescue puppy six months ago (remember Aiden?) who was recently returned. We feel that he just didn't have enough of an outlet for his energy in his old home and that didn't work out so well with his family. Waylon was timid and a bit hesitant at first when he came back, but he seems to have warmed up in his foster home and has become more trusting. Some of that is due to the dog pack in his foster home that he has been able to attach to! He loves to wrestle and play with his foster sibling, and he thinks toys are the best! He seeks affection from his person, gives kisses, and likes to have his butt scratched! Make no mistake, even though he is a puppy, Waylon displays a lot of intelligence and is easily trainable. He potty trained in 3 days with a consistent routine and positive reinforcement and by following the lead of the other dogs. He listens well and is a good boy, but remember...he's still a puppy! So, yes he ate a pair of flip flops (be sure to put your shoes away!), and sometimes he needs to go outside to potty in the middle of the night (you'll have to get up, but that's soon to be over with a bit more training), and did we mention...he loves to PLAY! Waylon is very active, and he's not particular either... he will play with another dog, or happily go for long walks, is always up for a game of fetch, will esgerly check out dog parks, etc. He doesn't like car rides but he has been improving with every ride he takes. Waylon is working on leash training and is learning not to tug. He is friendly with everyone he meets, and gets along with all dogs. He sleeps in the big bed or in a dog bed on the floor at night. He has not been tested with cats. He has been around children and is great with older kids. Due to his playful energetic nature, he is a bit too much for a smaller child. Waylon is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. He needs a good home that will appreciate and entertain his intelligence and high energy personality. In return, he will be a loyal and loving part of your family!
