Hi! My name is Sionn (Irish name pronounced shu-oon which means 'fox') but my hooman siblings call me Bagel the Beagle. I'm guessed to be about 1 .5 years old. I'm so happy to have been picked to come up to Northern Virginia where I can receive the care and attention I need. I'm a very sweet boy currently weighing in at 23 lbs. The vet says I need to gain 10 more lbs to reach my ideal 'foxy' weight. I am loving the 4 meals a day my foster mom is feeding me - Yum! She is also giving me good vitamins and lotion to get my skin and fur smooth and shiny. I have 3 fur siblings to play with and we all get along great. I'm a pretty low key guy right now until I am at a healthy weight, preferring to hang in my crate, snuggle next to my foster mom or sleep on my bed during the day. I haven't had any accidents in my foster home and I let them know I need to go out with a bark or two. I walk great on a leash and enjoy being on the trails behind the house and saying hi to other dogs and people (sometimes I insist on getting closer but foster mom says that we could only say hi from 6 ft). Now that on my way to getting better, I am excited to find my forever home. I'm not too picky; I just want someone or a family to love and to love me back. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH's heartworm coordinator.
